Within the above role I am in charge of the Distribution network and co-ordinate and manage the moving of stock around the network. I have been tasked to develop and deliver business opportunities in the overall distribution network by management and leadership of a team of 60 staff to maximise their potential and further drive their efficiency. I currently work with logistics trading and operations to ensure smooth execution of new business opportunities. I also have to drive new initiatives through identification, development and implementation of consolidation and backhaul opportunities with suppliers and other businesses to minimise environmental impact. I also manage and negotiate with freight suppliers to identify opportunities for the business and optimise cost benefits.

Within this role as Local Distribution Centre Manager I am responsible for 38 staff including supervisors, 7.5T drivers, fitter’s mates and administration staff. I have full operational control for the depot within Scotland including working to budgets, meeting KPI’s, all Health & Safety aspects, purchasing, hiring of agency staff when required and maintenance and upkeep of the premises. I have developed a good working relationship with our trade customers in Scotland since joining the company. Within my position I also oversee all transport and warehouse activities including downloading digital tachograph reports, and the maintenance of all vehicles. Responsible for full P&L for the depot. I feel that I have good motivational and development skills to productively enhance both staff and productivity to any company including my knowledge of WMS systems.
