As a senior Public Affairs Specialist in the Office of Regulatory Affair's Public Affairs and Editorial Services Branch I've served as Acting Director, Acting ORA Media Manager and Acting Team Lead. I've also served as a cross-cutting issue coordinator for the Program Alignment Communications Team focusing on specialization, training and work planning and currently serve as the Communications Lead for the Human and Animal Food (HAF) Program. I Serve on the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Communications Team. Responsible for internal communications to FDA employees as well as state and local food and feed staff by way of maintaining the internal FSMA Chat websites, the FSMA Chats group for FDA state commissioned employees and planning/conducting the FSMA Chats. I was selected as FDA’s Office of Regulatory Affairs' National Public Affairs Specialist of the Year for 2015.Deployment Activities:- Member of Applied Public Health Team 3's Command Staff as Team Lead of Blue Roster's Environmental Public Health Group. - Served for five weeks as Incident Commander for FDA's initial response to the 2012 Republican National Convention in which the FDA, Florida Department of Agriculture and Florida Department of Health collected food samples and inspected food facilities in close proximity to the convention location.- Served as Incident Commander for FDA's Mobile Chemistry Lab Deployment for three in weeks 2012. Oversaw a laboratory staffed by 7 FDA chemists and a team of Incident Command staff.- Participated in OFRD's (now RedDOG) National Level Exercise (NLE) in Paducah Kentucky, in May of 2011. - Participated in OFRD's Force Readiness Training in Maryville, Tennessee, in March of 2010.- Served as Incident Commander for FDA's Mobile Chemistry Lab deployment to the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill in 2010.- Served as the Planning Section Chief for the HHS Secretary's Emergency Response Team in Jackson, MS during Hurricane Katrina.

Performed a wide range of environmental health activities including food service establishment inspections, institutional evaluations, public swimming pool inspections, and on-site sewage management evaluations. Conducted food service facility plan reviews before construction of new establishments or remodeling of existing establishments. Trained other staff to review plans. Worked with septic tank contractors to plan new on-site sewage management systems or to repair existing systems. Assisted with the injury prevention program and handled epidemiological investigations of food borne disease outbreaks.

Performed duties in many areas of environmental health. These areas included insect and rodent control, injury prevention, and food service establishment inspections. Initiated investigations of food-borne illness outbreaks and complaints related to public health.
