Led Scotmid as the first major partner of SnappyShopper (pre-pandemic) and the implementation of ESL across all stores - the first UK retailer to do so. Sponsor of the Make it Simple programme to remove and reduce task in stores through transformation and continuous improvement along with refreshing the store IT to bring task to colleagues fingertips. Other IT innovation and change has included an AI based solution to minimise reduced to clear, the introduction of Too Good To Go to reduce waste, a digital retail task platform, digital Food to Go screens in store, a new HR system with direct employee access, self service checkouts and refreshes of EFT, all voice and data networks, all client, server and storage infrastructure/data centres, implementation of full O365 and a programme to improve Scotmid's cyber security . Technology included all IT applications, data warehousing, on-prem and cloud infrastructure, end use computing, cyber and data and voice telecommunications for 300+ branches, ~4000 colleagues and central functions.

6 month role as interim CIO at Glasgow Caledonian University. Responsible for the strategic leadership, development and operational management of the IT and Library services functions managing combined departments of ~110 (90+ FTEs) staff, £7M opex and £1-2M capex per annum.

Responsible for Edinburgh (EAL) side of IT programme to prepare airport for sale. 4 key areas of focus:i) Separating commercially sensitive data and processes to make EAL commercially separate by saleii) Defining and presenting an 18 month separation programme to the final biddersiii) Supporting the sale process (Information Memorandum, Separation Blueprint) in terms of key IT information, including the negotiation with BAA of the outline Transition Support Agreements.iv) Managing for EAL, the separation of group IT contracts and licence and outsourcing contract.Edinburgh was sold in June 2012 for £807M to GIP.

Head of IT for Southampton, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports as part of BAA group. Responsible to each airport MD for all IT across the SAGE airports (investment, projects, service, compliance) including a £3M+ programme replacing the critical Airport Operational System at all sites.Major focus on the OJEU tender to outsource all IT services and projects across BAA to Capgemini. Responsible for regional airports input, evaluation and negotiation from ITT through BAFO and on-going through transition (transfer, service commencement, TUPE and transformation step-ups).

Formulation and successful execution of a business aligned IT capital investment strategy across the three BAA Scottish airports. Included formulating and managing business cases to approval, driving change through the business to ensure the expected returns were delivered, chairing project boards and overseeing a portfolio of projects to successful technical delivery.Managed an investment portfolio of ~£17M+ direct airports and £~13M group IT capital expenditure, including support £60+M of major construction programmes at EAL and GLAL.

In Dec 2003 Accenture won a £2B, 10 year contract to deliver new IT service to multiple NHS care sessions across 40% of England. Joining just after contract award as part of the senior team leading the delivery of the 1st phase of the Primary and Community Health solutions for Accenture to two (of the five) English regions as part of the NHS National Programme for IT.

Sainsbury's awarded a £1.7B, 7 year transformation outsourcing deal to Accenture in 2000. Joining the outsourcing management team pre contract signature, roles included: transition management, Unit Test Practice Manager, Service Implementation Manager and Programme Manager to stabilise and re-platform the corporate desktop service.
