Prepared various compliance documents in support of the Reserve Bank’s outsourcing policy (BS11). Worked with the Payments and Cyber infrastructure teams to produce Risk Control and Evidence, Separation Run-sheet, Operational Handover and System Support documents. Wrote a Privileged Active Directory Access Submission Guidelines and PowerShell scripts to assist with the creation of the large number of infrastructure accounts required.

Developed a model of EQC’s Enterprise Architecture to improve understanding of the current environment and the technical dependencies between internal and third party systems that comprise the service aggregation business model employed. The model was created using an evolutionary approach and documented using Abacus, a configurable semantic Enterprise Architecture modelling tool. I worked within the Architecture team and elicited information from existing documentation and through interviews with stakeholders.My contract was extended a number of times after the Technical Debt project. I was involved in the following projects:CMDB (Configuration Management Data Base) for the Service Desk. I prepared an options analysis and a proposal for the installation of the Manage Engine Client Agent.JadeStar Active Directory Synchronisation Project. I undertook analysis and design of a interface between JadeStar and Active Directory to simplify the on boarding/off boarding of personnel and improve data integrity.LINQ Information Flow Design Thinking Pilot. Maven Consultancy were engaged to explore use a design thinking approach to using their LINQ information supply chain modelling tool. I used LINQ to document the data flows related to Loss Modelling.The Loss Modelling Capability Development Project. This was a complex and involved project to replace the existing Loss Modelling program (Minerva). I prepared the initial Minerva Current State – Systems Analysis and co-prepared the High Level Requirements documents. These served as a basis for supplier selection and primary input into the subsequent Agile based development jointly undertaken by GNS and Catalyst. I also prepared documents relating to the design and testing of the system as it was developed.

This project is integrating a third party video streaming product into the existing computer telephony call centre system to provide customer video consultation with banking agents either from In Store or from Internet Banking. Worked with the lead in-house BA on identifying and documenting the more technical requirements for the Video Banking project. Conducted workshops with users to assist in eliciting requirements. Developed video call state transition, entity event and system interaction diagrams in consultation with the business and the techies. These were used to ensure completeness and accuracy of requirements and in the development of the high level design. Provided valuable feedback on the system behavior aspects of the design document to ensure that it met requirements, and called out ones that would not be satisfied. This helped make business expectations more realistic. Assisted the project manager with the preparation of the Operational Knowledge document and the lead business analyst with surveying and documenting store hardware upgrade requirements.

Revised and refined Process, Procedure and System Step documentation for the re-implementation of the Public Trust’s core systems using NavOne. Primarily in the Assets and Liabilities and Investments area where I was able to apply my knowledge of accounting and finance. Liaised with representatives from PwC to review system documentation. Prepared memos for the Internal Governance Group summarising Risk and Control matrices supplied by PwC.

Successfully project managed three major projects:Simplification of a proprietary statistical information system for the Central Bank of the Solomon Island developed in .net/C#. Worked with representatives of the Statistics department to establish requirements and conveyed these to the developers. Traveled to the Solomon Islands to deploy. Wrote script to transform complex excel spread sheet into Xml series definition file.A major upgrade to the core Treasury System. This involved managing a wide range of stakeholders from the vendor to the Deputy Governor down. Introduced rigorous testing and a regression test suite. Wrote scripts to reconcile current and future state system data. Replacement of the Web Content Management System for the Bank's public website. Facilitated the selection process and establishment of requirements for the new system. An Agile approach was used incorporating daily scrums, Sprints and Kanban. Wrote a system to automate the migration of various sourced content into Sitecore using Smalltalk, PowerShell and C# to speed up and improve the quality of migrated content. Developed a regression test suite.

Assisted with the expansion of Redmine from basic bug tracking usage to incorporate broader project management functionality. This involved working with project managers to establish their requirements, set up their projects, writing usage instructions, conducting an overview presentation and providing hands on training.

Methodware developed Risk Management software. It was a small startup and after a considerable growth period, it was sold to JADE. Evolved the initial stand-alone product into a four tiered web based system. Performed various roles and used a lot of technology other than just Smalltalk. After being sold, the system was subsequently redeveloped in .NET and I became responsible for the Installshield installer. Worked closely with the development and testing teams to test and troubleshoot the initial releases and provided support to support staff as they conducted the initial roll outs.

Developed complex quasi real time models of the National Grid power system using object oriented modeling and implementation techniques based on my private research. Developed object structures and functions to generate fault sequences based on the current network topology for input into a transient stability analysis program (which was developed by Bath University). This research project proved so successful that a new category called "operational prototype" was created so that the system could be used by control engineers until the full corporate system implementation procedures (of two to three years duration) could be followed.Redesigned and reimplemented the existing study mode enhancement in order to develop the Scottish Transfer Study Mode. This involved gaining an understanding of the existing complex multi processing study mode and developing an architecture that integrated both intertrip and transfer study modes. The resulting design was used by the C++ production version development team. The development was conducted remotely at home in New Zealand. Revised and redeveloped the Fault Sequence Generation algorithm to be more general.This entailed complex network traversal routines along with the building of two level wrapped tree structures. Initial investigation into the Scottish Transfer Study Mode project.Also attended the European Smalltalk Users Group week long Summer School.

Simplified and implemented existing Media Clippings database design. Designed and developed the Media Clippings intranet front end using Coldfusion. Used Squeak to generate SQL data load scripts from Excel files.

Rewrote National Booking Reporting System (NBRS) Business Processes, Design Specification and Data Dictionary to be more precise. Mentored the design of a batch processing system implemented in Java. Conceived of and co-developed a testing framework implemented with Unix scripts, which was subsequently re-used on multiple projects. Helped motivate and conduct initial analysis of NZHIS enterprise architecture. Liaised with health sector professionals and operational staff during the implementation of NBRS. Wrote miscellaneous Smalltalk scripts for formatting initial set-up data.
