As an Assistant Director at Explore Horizons, I am responsible for driving performance for a startup company. On a daily basis, I track performance numbers and compare them to previous targets to ensure my center is delivering a profit and bottom line financials. I am also in charge of recruiting, hiring, training, and developing a team of tutors. Lastly, I am in charge of external and internal marketing, driving sales and retention, the centers schools program, and overall customer service.

I created and implemented a full program year of Curriculum for college campus visits. I performed career counseling, case management, and other support services to at-risk high school students. I facilitated small group and classroom activities with college alumni and high school students experiencing social, emotional, and/or vocational difficulties.

I created and implemented developmentally appropriate activities to help normalize the hospital environment for patients and their siblings. I assessed children’s level of coping by utilizing my knowledge of child development, family systems, and other hospital factors. I provided medical play, preparation, distraction, and other techniques to help patients and their families have an optimal hospital experience.

I co-facilitated individual and group support sessions that included illness education, coping techniques, expression of feelings, and future hopes of children. I maintained clear communication with child life staff, children, family members, and community partners.

I led class activities and graded undergraduate work, while simultaneously conducting research on Interior design for children with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder and ADHD, and the educational benefits of technology.

I served as a positive adult role model for 12 at-risk students at Perez Elementary in Austin, Texas. I advocated for the needs of children, working alongside diverse levels of staff. I accumulated over 60 hours of training covering topics such as child abuse and neglect, cultural competence, crisis intervention and compassion fatigue.
