I am a Social Entrepreneur committed to public service. I believe that the non-profit and public sectors are best able to change the world when they break the traditional public servant rule book and start operating based on the market principles used by the private sector.I have 10+ years of successful experience leading $100MM+ organizations with 1K+ employees, including as a Senior Executive at Melwood, a regional non-profit offering a wide array of services to people with disabilities and injured veterans. At Melwood, I led the FY19-FY23 strategic planning process; created abilIT, a program that aims to have the staggering unemployment of people with autism solve the overwhelming need for entry-level tech and cybersecurity talent; diversified funding sources; and oversaw the expansion of developmental disability and vocational rehabilitation services into two new regions.I’m also active in the region’s academic, government, non-profit and business communities. I have served as an adjunct professor at Mount St. Mary’s University and as a partner/contributor for service-learning classes at Marymount University. I have been appointed to public bodies including: the Maryland Community Health Resources Commission, a task force to study real estate transactions by the City of Annapolis, and the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Pension Plan. I have served on Boards and Fundraising Committees of various entities including Harford United Charities, Chesapeake Therapeutic Riding, and Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. I’ve worked with blue chip employers like GDIT and KPMG to build their neurodiversity programs and represented the Greater Washington Board of Trade on Maryland’s task force to study transportation accessibility. I have the political savviness to build and sustain relationships with many constituencies, both internal and external, including government agencies, funding sources, and the media. An effective ambassador, I have elevated the visibility of Melwood’s mission in interviews for television, radio, on-line and print media, as well as at events sponsored by civic organizations and employers.Demonstrated experience cultivating donors, in one case turning a cold call into a $50K donation.strategic planning | social innovation | program innovation | partner cultivation | team development | storyteller
