Conducted Critical Theory Research through an instructive case study with a community of Maasai in rural Kenya. Explored the relationship between culture and poverty reduction, concluding that, in order to achieve sustainable poverty reduction, community members must have the opportunity to articulate their unique conceptualization of poverty and formulate their own path to poverty reduction.

Traveled by bicycle through Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Togo, Benin, and NigeriaOver land through India, Nepal, China, Mongolia, Russia, Estonia, and Germany. Engaged with various local social development organizations. Included small scale micro-credit and education initiative in India; Equigambia, a fair-trade fashion co-operative in The Gambia; an orphanage in Nepal, and Viva Rio project – Favelas in Brazil.

Worked on Mathare Valley Slum projects for Maji Mazuri.Coordinated project monitoring, evaluation, and donor reporting activities. Conducted field visits, interviewed project participants, and compiled reports for international donors.Developed a Gender Training Manual for project participants and staff. Manual created awareness about gender inequality and gender based violence.Provided training on gender issues, HIV/AIDS awareness, and cross-cultural co-operation.Developed bespoke social and economic development strategies for project participants.Coordinated fund raising activities. Successfully secured international funding. Produced fund application proposals to secure individual and community funding.Provided support to project participants, staff, and volunteers. Commenced part-time employment in 2001, becoming full-time in May 2004. Provided basic patient care on the medical/cardiac/surgery ward, critical care unit and emergency roomTrained as a Telemetry Assistant to monitor cardiac activity for patients on the medical/cardiac/surgery ward.

Selected to participate on a Washington D.C. based program to develop familiarization with international diplomacy, and domestic and international institutions. Visited various agencies - SIPAM, National Police, and Brazilian Foreign Service. Included Viva Rio Project, working in the Favelas of Rio de Janeiro.
