Research InternBios Bioenergiesysteme Gmbh Sep 2014 - Dec 2014First, I worked on the implementation of an algorithm in MATLAB that allowed us to separate the volatile pseudo-components of biomass, i.e. hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin. Additionally, a Graphical User Interface was developed that simplified the routine, and directly visualized the results.Second, the thermal decomposition behaviour of as single biomass pellet was analysed in a so-called single particle reactor. We investigated whether the decomposition of a pellet at high heating rates has kinetic limitations.
