About Stijn Devillé
Stijn Devillé studied French Literature and Theatre Science at the KULeuven and Université d'Avignon and Drama at RITCS (Brussels). He worked as a freelance theatre maker for several professional companies and festivals in Flanders and The Netherlands and founded his own company Braakland/ZheBilding (BZB) in Leuven. As a playwright, he has obtained several (international) awards and grants. His work is translated into German, French and English.'Hitler is dood' ('Hitler is dead', based on the Nuremberg Trials) as well as the trilogy 'Hebzucht, Angst & Hoop' all opened with great critical acclaim. The Dutch Theatre review De TheaterMaker (TM) proclaimed 'Hitler is dood' best music-theatre production of 2009 and 'Hebzucht' best Flemish production of 2012. Also the Toneelschrijfprijs for best original play was awarded to Stijn for 'Hitler is dood'. Hebzucht, Angst & Hoop won the 2017 Quinquennial award of the Royal Academy of Dutch Literature.BZB became City Theatre of Leuven, and was awarded the Culture Prize for the Performing Arts by the Flemish Government as well as the KULeuven Culture Prize. In 2012 BZB was curator of TAZ#2012 Theater aan Zee-festival. In 2015 BZB merged with the Hasselt-based theatre company de Queeste: Het nieuwstedelijk was born. Het nieuwstedelijk is the new-style city theatre of Leuven, Hasselt & Genk and focuses on theatre, text, music, audio and debate. Associate artists are Adriaan Van Aken, Christophe Aussems, Sara Vertongen, Els Theunis.Specialties: new dramaturgycontemporary musicartistic cross-overs

Together with Dirk De Lathauwer, Hay-Chai Jiang, Jan De Braekeleer and Stefaan Vandelacluze we founded the place in 2011.
