About Christina Huerta
I have always been curious and sentimental by nature. My curiosity has led me to enjoy telling stories through a lens or writing. I became a multimedia journalism major because I wanted the ability to tell stories from different platforms.Before seeking my degree I took a shot at freelance writing for a monthly magazine. I had no prior experience but the editor took a chance on me. This opportunity was the spark that ignited the flame. I enjoyed interviewing and taking photographs for the publication so much that it led me to seek a journalism degree. I began my journey into journalism as a reporter and photographer for my college newspaper. The newsroom atmosphere of telling engaging stories while meeting deadlines has helped me develop invaluable skills to prepare to work in print, broadcast or online journalism.I had always loved photography and the ability to tell a story with just a picture. I began fine tuning my photography skills by taking portraits for family and friends. As my skills developed, clients increased. I have successfully run my professional portrait photography business since 2012. My experience as a photographer further sparked my passion for photojournalism. I enjoy working in journalism because you never know where the news will take you or the people you'll meet along the way. The landscape for journalism is always changing and I like being able to adapt the news to wherever people want to receive it. Along with journalism I wanted to have the skill set to design and market. I chose web publishing as my emphasis so I could be more than just a "one trick pony." I want to be able to write the story, take the picture, and promote the news across multiple platforms including video and social media.
