Its contributors are based on 6 continents, and a significant portion is comprised of Venezuelan ex patriot journalists who had had to flee their country due to intimidation and repression. My bilingual column, The People's Lawyer (El Abogado Popular) is a monthly look at topics of interest involving the American judicial system, domestic and international politics, and current events.

Canterbury Enterprises, Inc. is a sheltered workshop established in 1983 to employ people with disabilities in St. Louis County and City. It is an affiliate of United Cerebral Palsy of Greater St. Louis.A sheltered workshop is an organization that provides employment opportunities for people with disabilities. The word 'sheltered' refers to a protective environment where the disabled can undertake paid meaningful employment in a supportive environment. In a sheltered workshop, people perform a variety of tasks, and are provided with work experience, the opportunity to socialize with peers, on the job training, and other benefits. Sheltered workshops can be found all over the world, offering services and products ranging from furniture repair to landscaping. Canterbury provides a variety of services, including: bulk mail services, light assembly, packaging, salvage, promotion, and retail services. In addition, Canterbury's 4,000 sq. ft. warehouse can be made available to clients for project materials and storage.

Mr. Hein was the Head of the Appellate Litigation Department of this Firm, and was responsible for handling the appeals of the adverse rulings against this Firm's clients in the State and Federal Courts. Of particular note, Mr. Hein won the appeal of an individual tried on 22 various felonies and misdemeanors by convincing the Court of Appeals there was no evidence to support one of the convictions, and that there existed prejudicial instructional error sufficient to warrant a new trial for the remaining convictions. Thanks to Mr. Hein winning the appeal, the defendant was eventually found innocent of all charges.
