Responding to 999 calls in London’s Brent area, I provide emergency and urgent care as an autonomous practitioner, making clinical decisions for service users. These decisions must be safe and appropriate for their presenting condition and are often made under pressure.My problem solving is not just limited to the creation of working diagnoses, but also consideration for scene safety, extrication and complicated social situations. I keep a portfolio of self directed learning and I am currently studying University of Hertfordshire’s MSc Advanced Paramedic Practice: Critical care, in addition to working full time.In my work I use strong leadership skills to guide less experienced staff, students and members of the public through difficult situations safely, with patient care as our biggest priority.
