At this local historical organization, my position as the Curator of Collections is an integral part of the leadership team. My role is divided into a variety of responsibilities.Collections Stewardship: ● Oversee the stewardship of the collection comprising over 27,000 photographs, 330 linear feet of archival records, and approximately 1,500 objects including works of fine art ● Train and supervise part-time archivist, grant-funded positions, collections volunteers, interns, and contractors● Develop, implement, comply by the Collections Management Policy● Secured fine art collections insurance for the collection● Process accessions and deaccessions including title transfer documentation, registration, and preparation of objects for storage, such as labelling, photography, and housing● Practice routine preventive conservation techniques, including overseeing housekeeping, the Integrated Pest Management program, monitoring temperature/relative humidity, and security measures● Develop cataloging procedures and standardize metadata● Answer research and rights and reproduction requestsInterpretation & Outreach: • Assist the Executive Director/Curator with the development of exhibits including research, acting as community liaison, writing content, design, and installation• Oversee all incoming and outgoing loans from other cultural organizations as well as private collectors; including transportation/shipment, insurance, condition reports, and correspondence• Write and design internally-produced publications• Contribute history articles to local publicationsManagement & Administration: • Assist with strategic planning, decision making, and budgeting• Communicate with the Board of Directors, donors, members, volunteers, and community about organizational mission, goals, and activities• Apply for local, state, and national grants • Assist with managing part-time staff and contractors• Manage departmental budgets and project management systems

Researched the closing of Central State Hospital in Indianapolis for an exhibit titled Leaving Home. Developed exhibition concepts about the closing through the lens of three patient newsletters. Wrote interpretive text and secured image permissions for exhibit panels and exhibit guide

Documented, cataloged and photographed incoming object accessions. Processed loaned objects for exhibitions such as 'Gold! Riches and Ruin' and 'Quest for the West Show and Auction'. Constructed customized housing boxes and storage mounts for objects in the collection. Monitored environmental control using hygrotherographs and Hobo dataloggers.

Developed and implemented cataloging procedures for new accessions. Began documentation of over 1,000 objects in newly purchased PastPerfect software. Inventoried and reconciled objects that were “Found in Collection”. Communicated importance of procedural record documentation and best practice safety protocols to museum staff and board members.

Assist the visitor advocate in conducting surveys about museum programs and exhibits. Analyze visitor evaluation data and create graphics based on the information. Assist the gallery staff by performing education demonstrations and programs.
