The Watermen’s Museum has traditional museum displays and provides interpretive demonstrations including historical music, cannon firings, and more. The museum has partnerships with other museums and historic activities, including the sharing of information and exhibits. The Watermen's Museum supports Montessori schools, ARC programs, public/private and home school educational field trips and camp programs, such as: Pirate, Boatbuilding, Ecology, Conservation, History, and Archeology camps, as well as a volunteer boat building program. We teach, support, and have exhibits on numerous aquaculture topics. We rebuilt a boat for The AMC movie and Series TURN and are building a full-size War of Independence wooden replica gunship on our beach.

This group is comprised of members of Coast Guard Auxiliary and active duty Coast Guard personnel. The active duty military personnel, living history interpreters and educators are from throughout the Virginia Tidewater region. The living history program travels to US seaboard and inland ports and other locations to provide the public an opportunity to experience life and conditions aboard a 19th century revenue cutter by participating in hands-on educational activities and vignettes provided by the interpreters. The unit’s display includes a 12-foot-square reproduction cutter gun deck. Members of the HSC demonstrate and interpret navigation, cooking and food preservation, shipboard medicine, gunnery, boatswain duties and a variety of other duties carried out by cuttermen serving aboard an early 19th century revenue cutter.
