Planning EngineerGraham Construction Mar 2015 - Dec 2016Liverpool, United Kingdom- Site based Planning Engineer for the principal contractor on the £75m Liverpool Biomass Handling Facility (engineer procure and construct)- Created and monitored a resourced and cost loaded 3,000 activity Primavera P6 construction programme in collaboration with the project team, subcontractors, design consultants, fabricators, suppliers and the commissioning team- Crafted progress reports including resource curves, resource histograms, cost s-curves, cash flow forecasts, earned value management (including CPI and SPI) and risk analysis (PERT/QSRA) that focussed and guided Senior Management’s attention on the project’s critical issues- Employed time impact delay analysis to get a prospective 30 day and £1.5 million compensation event approved (client design change). This included producing a clear, concise and persuasive presentation to the client and driving negotiations to agree on the final delay and cost- Agreed with the client a 15 day and £50,000 compensation event for delay and disruption caused by unforeseen physical conditions (buried services). This included meticulous detail in compiling and analysing evidence (piling records, timesheets and emails) to identify causation- Briefed the Executive and Commercial Directors on a £750,000 liquidated damages counter-claim- Reviewed a subcontractor’s £2 million acceleration claim and through an involved negotiation reduced this down to £1.4 million -
Lead Project EngineerJohn Holland May 2014 - Feb 2015Yandicoogina Mine, Australia- Lead Project Engineer for the structural mechanical piping contractor on the $100m Yandicoogina Mine Sustaining Project - Lead a team of four engineers and oversaw site supervision to drive cost effective solutions whilst ensuring all technical matters on the project were compliant with specifications, legislation, approvals, standards, programme and John Holland’s SQE Risk Management process- Identified the opportunity to preassemble 346 conveyor ground modules (3,016m) offsite using a novel technique to pre-align and efficiently transport the modules that reduced costs by over $100,000 while still achieving the required 2mm construction tolerance- As the project’s lift design specialist I reduced risks and costs associated with a critical heavy lift over rail during a major shutdown. This was achieved by lifting from a different position which required more temporary works (where I managed the ground investigation, pad design and construction) which were offset by requiring a smaller crane with a simpler lifting arrangement- Monitored site productivities as well as prepared budgets, cost forecasting and commercial reports with the project coming in under budget with a productivity factor of 0.93- Vigorously lead the construction team to proactively identify 126 variations worth over $1.5 million - Drove the safety culture of the project with a TIFR 40% lower than the original target set by the client which ranked us as the best performing contractor for Rio Tinto Iron Ore -
