Lead Assistant to an Expert Witness in the field of delay & disruption in HKA's Expert Services stream. My duties include undertaking delay analyses, drafting of reports, expert witness support, arbitration & litigation support, and claim/counterclaim preparation & defence. My responsibilities also include line management of staff and business development.

As a Managing Consultant - Delay Analyst in HKA's Expert Services stream I assist the Delay Expert by providing assistance and advice on disputes and other issues related to projects. My duties consist of gathering evidence and carrying out analysis and investigation to understand each party's responsibility in terms of delays to packages.

- Project Engineer in the New Business team for various tenders in the marine, resources, and infrastructure sectors- Developed construction methodologies, let procurement & subcontractor pricing packages, assisted the bid leader with developing tender strategy and reviewed the tender estimate and tender programme

- Site based Planning Engineer for the principal contractor on the £75m Liverpool Biomass Handling Facility (engineer procure and construct)- Created and monitored a resourced and cost loaded 3,000 activity Primavera P6 construction programme in collaboration with the project team, subcontractors, design consultants, fabricators, suppliers and the commissioning team- Crafted progress reports including resource curves, resource histograms, cost s-curves, cash flow forecasts, earned value management (including CPI and SPI) and risk analysis (PERT/QSRA) that focussed and guided Senior Management’s attention on the project’s critical issues- Employed time impact delay analysis to get a prospective 30 day and £1.5 million compensation event approved (client design change). This included producing a clear, concise and persuasive presentation to the client and driving negotiations to agree on the final delay and cost- Agreed with the client a 15 day and £50,000 compensation event for delay and disruption caused by unforeseen physical conditions (buried services). This included meticulous detail in compiling and analysing evidence (piling records, timesheets and emails) to identify causation- Briefed the Executive and Commercial Directors on a £750,000 liquidated damages counter-claim- Reviewed a subcontractor’s £2 million acceleration claim and through an involved negotiation reduced this down to £1.4 million

- Lead Project Engineer for the structural mechanical piping contractor on the $100m Yandicoogina Mine Sustaining Project - Lead a team of four engineers and oversaw site supervision to drive cost effective solutions whilst ensuring all technical matters on the project were compliant with specifications, legislation, approvals, standards, programme and John Holland’s SQE Risk Management process- Identified the opportunity to preassemble 346 conveyor ground modules (3,016m) offsite using a novel technique to pre-align and efficiently transport the modules that reduced costs by over $100,000 while still achieving the required 2mm construction tolerance- As the project’s lift design specialist I reduced risks and costs associated with a critical heavy lift over rail during a major shutdown. This was achieved by lifting from a different position which required more temporary works (where I managed the ground investigation, pad design and construction) which were offset by requiring a smaller crane with a simpler lifting arrangement- Monitored site productivities as well as prepared budgets, cost forecasting and commercial reports with the project coming in under budget with a productivity factor of 0.93- Vigorously lead the construction team to proactively identify 126 variations worth over $1.5 million - Drove the safety culture of the project with a TIFR 40% lower than the original target set by the client which ranked us as the best performing contractor for Rio Tinto Iron Ore

- Project Engineer in the New Business / Engineering Services team- Developed resourced and cost loaded programmes in Primavera P6 for over a dozen tenders in the oil & gas, energy, chemical, transmission and distribution, wastewater treatment and resources sectors- Presented programmes to Senior Management for go/no go approval at tender finalisation meetings- Assisted the New Business Manager with developing tender strategy and applying the strategy to the construction programme- Risk assessed head contracts to inform our bid qualifications

- Project Engineer as part of the Gladstone LNG Marine Offloading Facility Claims Team- Assisted the external claims consultants with evidence gathering and ground analysis for a major $50 million claim involving ground conditions- Meticulously reviewed hundreds of piling records, timesheets, emails, drawing revisions, technical notes and design reports to develop an as built programme- Analysed complex pile driving records and dynamic pile analysis (CAPWAP) results to assess where existing ground conditions exceeded the limits allowed in the contract

- Site Engineer for the Principal Contractor on a $170 million EPC contract from tender through to award, design, procurement, construction and commissioning- Reviewed design consultant’s drawings for constructability and complying with our oil & gas client’s specifications during the concept and detailed design phases- Managed the design consultant and fabricators (one local and one international) for the design and construction of three pontoons- Procured over $4 million of plant, equipment and materials- Mobilised two piling barges in Gladstone to the SQE requirements of Maritime Safety Queensland, our oil & gas client, and Det Norske Veritas- Managed the two piling crews constructing the wall for the main wharf (>200 tubular and sheet piles)- Developed and executed the installation methodology for the tie bar/deadman system and a 6,000m3 mass concrete structure (poured underwater in eight stages)
