I'm excited to be back for my second season working for Tahoe Donner's Forestry Department. I'm falling trees and operating heavy equipment, with the main objective of improving wildfire protection for the community of Truckee in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Operating equipment such as an excavator, wood chippers, chainsaws, all sorts of heavy duty trucks and very cool tools. I love doing a difficult, hazardous job well and safely, working outdoors in one of the most beautiful regions of the country.

In this role, I will facilitate the implementation and management of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and the application of Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA). I'll be focused on equipment and process reliability improvements through the application of reliability and maintainability engineering tools. I'll serve as a champion for maintenance and reliability process optimization. I will have an integral role in developing and executing asset health improvement plans, defect detection & elimination, and managing the facility's project reliability portfolio with inclusion of reliability deliverables for other site capital projects.

I provide all necessary preparation and instruction for the efficient completion of maintenance tasks at the Cleveland Salt Mine, including evaluating labor, parts, and material requirements and availability, writing detailed job plans or instructions, permit requirements, and production coordination requirements. I concentrate on multiple future activities with a focus directed toward preventive maintenance (PM), predictive maintenance (PdM), and follow up activities to maximize maintenance crafts and maintain accurate asset information in SAP.

An exciting opportunity came up in June 2013 to manage a much more complex, fast paced warehouse in Albany, where we mill around 2.2 million lbs. of flour every day and ship approximately 50% in 50lb and 100lb bags on 25-40 van trailers per day. In April we finished installation of a new high-speed, high-capacity rotary valve-bag pack line that will revolutionize the flour packaging industry in the U.S.A.Some of my responsibilities included direct supervision of 18 warehouse team members, management of packaging, warehousing and shipping operations, setting the vision and engaging employees to become a self-directed high-performing team. I worked to help make Horizon Milling Albany, NY a premier flour packing warehouse in the USA with the happiest, highly engaged employees!

This was my first full time position after graduation. I started out in the 'Miller in Training' on-boarding program with Cargill's flour business, Horizon Milling. This involved two week rotations within each department and a term shift milling for seven months, some project work and supervision of the Pack Warehouse team. This well conceived program provided a solid foundation to build a successful management career from the 'shop floor' up.
