We made college truly affordable with tuition rates on par with those at community colleges but for a much more impactful Bachelor's degree. And NewU programs are smartly designed to be a full year shorter than the status quo.

As the first alumni president of the American University in Bulgaria (AUBG), and stepping into the pilot seat of an organization facing multiple strategic, financial, and governance challenges, my service to the university as President was marked by energetic and intense effort to bring AUBG to a self-sustainable long-term outlook without delay. Some of the key milestones we achieved together with a team of internal supporters and external stakeholders include:: : Raised close to $4.5 million in new gifts and grants in just over a year, more than any other comparable period in the last 7 years: : Secured the maximum 10-year US academic accreditation for the institution in a challenging environment: : Energized the alumni base and more than doubled alumni participation rate from 3% to 6.5%: : Partnered with SDA Bocconi, a Financial Times Top 5 MBA school for a joint degree program: : Brought to life the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Lab ASPIRE: : Balanced an annual budget of $13+ million and worked with 300+ employees: : Introduced strategy, product, process, and talent optimizations across the organization, and reversed 5 consecutive years of total operating losses, transforming an almost FY’16 ($2MM) loss into a FY’17 $1MM profit.As an alumnus from the first graduating class of 1995 and as someone who is deeply attached to the Mission and Vision of AUBG, I fully support and endorse the AUBG Alumni Association now taking and carrying the torch for reform of both AUBG Board and Management governance, transparency, and professionalism. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as President of AUBG.
