Here's my story so far...1. Sailing with the NavyAfter getting bored of junior college, I joined the United States Navy and served for six years on two different warships. My role involved tracking enemy submarines with sonar and managing undersea warfare systems to protect our vessels. During my service, I forged lifelong friendships, developed a keen attention to detail, and honed my leadership skills. Sailing the seas and visiting foreign ports gave me a unique perspective on the world and my place in it. I even had the opportunity to swim in the Challenger Deep, the deepest known point on Earth. For my dedication, I earned a Flag Letter of Commendation and three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals.2. Embracing New Beginnings: Education and Passion for TechnologyTransitioning from military life, I got married and pursued my education, following my wife across the country as she completed her medical degree and residency. With ample time to dedicate to my own studies, I discovered a passion for building Android apps. This hands-on hobby complemented my academic pursuits as I earned bachelor's degrees in Electrical Engineering Technology and Computer Science. Through trial and error, I deepened my understanding of technology and its potential to solve real-world problems.3. Joining Insulet: Making a Difference in Diabetes CareIn May 2022, I joined Insulet, a company whose mission to ease the lives of those affected by diabetes deeply resonated with me. As an Android software engineer, my focus has been on integrating Abbott's FreeStyle Libre continuous glucose monitors into the OmniPod 5 automated insulin pump system. Throughout this project, I have led the development and documentation of multiple features, refactored significant portions of the codebase, and become the team's go-to subject matter expert on NFC integration.A Purpose-Driven CareerMy journey has instilled in me a profound commitment to leveraging innovative technology to improve lives. My passion for problem-solving and creating meaningful solutions inspires me every day. As I continue to grow and evolve in my career, I am excited to embrace new challenges and contribute to impactful projects that make a tangible difference in people's lives.
