I always knew that I wanted to help people, but I wasn't ever sure how to go about it. When I was a senior in high school, I had an amazing psychology instructor and her class grew my interest in the field. So, I applied and got accepted to the U of A's psychology program. Through my chosen psychological electives, I have learned that my main interests within psychology include mental health, criminology, and forensic psychology. I declared a second major in criminal justice studies and a minor in criminology to pursue these interests. I currently volunteer as an Undergraduate Research Assistant with the U of A's FREADOM lab, a research study investigating how lifestyle interventions can improve sleep patterns and overall health in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes. I am also an intern with Homicide Survivors, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing advocacy, support, and assistance to those who have lost a loved one to homicide. These positions have provided opportunities for me to improve upon my organization, data analysis, active listening, and critical thinking skills.Outside of these positions, I am an active member of the Greek organizations Gamma Rho Lambda and Order of Omega. Gamma Rho Lambda Phi Chapter is an all-inclusive, progressive, multicultural sorority, dedicated to providing safe spaces for LGBTQ+ students and giving back to the Tucson community. Order of Omega Greek Honor Society Gamma Delta Chapter is a leadership honor society that recognizes students who excel in scholarship, leadership, and involvement in their community. My memberships in these organizations have allowed me to grow my leadership, communication, and problem solving skills.
