Daily, I'm the one who assures all of your financial and non-financial transactions on inforce life and annuity contracts are handled promptly, seamlessly and professionally.I also have assisted facilitating order within the growing pains that are common to successful, swiftly growing corporations such as Jackson. The past few years have seen unimaginable growth and huge changes. I feel fortunate that I was a part of some of the earliest teams to get established in the new Nashville office and have partnered with colleagues in my department and others to implement improvements to our processes. Sometimes this is because we are having to coordinate with offices across the country now and sometimes it just helps to have a fresh set of eyes on the way things have always been done.I have consistently been pushed out of my realm of comfort, and it has always ended up being beneficial to me, whether that is in my character, business knowledge, communication skills or something else entirely. While some may not adjust well to the constant changes necessitated by our growth, I see it as more opportunity than I have ever seen within one company.

I took on the solving of issues that were "deal-breakers" for customers. This could be a genuine mistake we had made or it could be just a general "grass is greener" situation. Either way, I connected personally with customers to identify their needs and offer a customized solution that balanced meeting this need with appropriate company resources. This was challenging at times, since that balance was so abstract, but it was always rewarding to compose a solution that both retained our customer and met their needs appropriately.

I learned about the delicate and subtle art of cigars by immersing myself in an environment that reveled in the distinctive personalities evoked by a cigar's origin, leaves, construction, length and burn.At the risk of romanticizing, I learned to recognize that which is individuality; they are the quiet things you will miss if you're distracted with something else. I learned to quiet and slow down my mind, to notice the way a cigar's aroma and taste evolves over the length of a smoke. It's a practice of a greater personal discipline.Also, I had an opportunity to see how a successful small business is run. I will forever look forward to the right time and opportunity to run my own.While I smoke less now, I translate both the personal disciplines and business knowledge I acquired to other aspects of my life. I owe that to Smokin' Joes and the then staff. I could've had any part-time college gig and feel really fortunate to have had this experience.Oh, and I sold cigars.

I prepped food in the morning and/or afternoon and managed the soup, salad, sandwich and pizza station on the line.
