Stroud Architects + Associates is a full-service architectural design and historic preservation consulting firm based in Gloucester, Virginia. Headquartered in the Tidewater region, our firm specializes in high-end residential design encompassing new as well as adaptive reuse and complete building rehabilitation projects. We work locally or throughout the US.Stroud Architects also provides a full range of historic preservation and historic buildings consulting services from our office in the Tidewater region of Virginia. A significant part of the firm's business includes providing preservation/restoration/adaptive reuse construction documents and Preservation Construction Administration. In doing so, we can provide scopes of work to include up-to-date means and methods specifications as well as preliminary cost estimates. We also provide research and analysis aimed toward determining whether a property is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, as well as assessing potential impacts to historical and cultural resources. The firm also provides a wide array of other preservation consulting services that include: historic structure reports; federal and state rehabilitation tax credit applications and their management; differed maintenance planning and inspections; and historic mortar and paint analysis. We have also had great success with modern systems integration into historic structures such as geo-thermal, solar, and generator systems. We are licensed in Virginia, North Carolina and Florida. We also meet the professional qualifications standards outlined by the Secretary of the Interior's Standards (Code of Federal Regulations, 36 CFR Part 61) to practice in the fields of architectural history and historic architecture.

Providing clients with knowledge and guidance of architectural and cultural history as well as overseeing the application of construction methods used for all architectural periods to include the latest means and methods used in the stabilization/conservation/preservation and restoration of cultural significant structures. Services include: Owner representation/Project Managment.Planning, and management of stabilization/conservation/restoration/preservation projects. Providing means & methods specifications.Develop and provide architectural drawings coordinated with all design professionals. Assure compliance with Federal and local code enforcement, historic review boards & commissions as well as state and Federal historic preservation offices and governmental agencies. Producing and oversee historic structures conditions assessment reports. As well as develop emergency stabilization plans.Educating the public-at-large in the importance of the protection of cultural heritage and its preservation.Implementing and managing Federal & state historic tax credits and easement programs. Researching and documenting structures to include HABS/HAER standard documentation and archival research.Overseeing restoration staff in the stabilization, conservation, preservation or restoration of a culturally significant structures according to the Secretary of Interior’s Standards as well as the American Institute for Conservation.Providing scientific paint and mortar analysis.

Performed the role of historic preservation project manager for multiple projects simultaneously, which vary greatly in magnitude and scope.Tasks performed:Assemble stabilization/construction/restoration/conservation documents to include project designs, AIA contracts and update/revise as needed.Schedule and lead project meetings with all staff and design professionals.Meet with clients, representatives, trustees, boards, architects, archeologist and engineers as well as other design professionals to promote, develop and implement historic preservation projects.Project scheduling and procurement.Develop and maintain, submittals, RFI and RFC,RFP, SCO,CO logs.Track progress and generate cost analysis reports for projects.Design, means & methods specification development and drawings review.Estimating/budgeting/prepare project proposals (governmental funded project bids, i.e. SAT Grants & NPS projects)Manage federal and state historic preservation tax credit programs as required per project.Sensitively implement & promote geo-thermal and other green energy designs into construction projects as necessary.
