After high school I went to ITT Technical institute to learn Electronics which made it possible to land a job at X-rite Incorporated where I stayed for 16 years. Started off as an electronics PCB assembler and then a tester. After about 10 years I moved to a position as a Customer Service Technician.In 2006 I was laidoff and made a carreer change.I attended an 18 week job training course in Machine Tool at Grand Rapids Community College. Covered use of manual and CNC Machining tools. These new skills gave me the opportunity to work for several local companies where I was able to gain some good experience. The last position was at Extol Incorporated in Zeeland, MI where I got to run CNC and some manual machining. Also I had the opportunity to build Custom Machines, which I felt was a ton of fun. Nothing like having someone hand you a 3d drawing and a box of parts and say "Put it together".Well that lasted for almost a year before the Automotive market dumped, which led to me being laidoff.So I started training in yet another new field. Through the NWLB at Michigan Works, I was able to take a basic Production Set training course. This spurred my interest in becoming a Film Grip. I have been dabbling in this field since June of 2009. Figuring that by the time my unemployment ran out I would have gained sufficient experience to start working on feature films. This plan didn't exactly work out.Presently working at ebw electronics as an smd operator. And working part time as a machine builder at national bulk equipment.currently employed at gentex running surface mount machines for making printed circuit boards.
