The Saskatoon HIV/AIDS Research Endeavour (SHARE) is a dedicated interdisciplinary research team addressing health issues of under-served communities in Saskatoon with a particular focus on HIV/AIDS. This team recognizes and is responding to the fact that HIV/AIDS is not an individual problem, it is a community problem and it needs a community solution. Working with community leaders and researchers in the Saskatoon community, SHARE is a unified collective of professionals that are examining ways to improve the lives of people affected by HIV/AIDS.

Guelph, Ontario

I am working with a University of Guelph and six Public Health Units in Southern Ontario to develop and implement a social marketing intervention campaign aimed at lowering the incidence of falls by children in the home. Our team is currently establishing a social marketing strategy, developing social media materials, and preparing to implement the evidence-based intervention in September 2013. Our goal is to increase parents' awareness, attitudes and practices regarding fall injuries and prevention.

I conceptualized and implemented innovative and groundbreaking acculturation research assessing new approaches to cross-cultural training, scale development, evaluation and consultation. This research has been successfully published as two papers in peer-reviewed journals, twice as conference papers and over 20 presentations at annual conferences. To compliment my academic research, I have worked extensively with different organizations (e.g., Ontario Public Service, Six Nations on the Grand River, Public Health), committees (e.g., Faculty and University Boards, Hiring Committees and Student Associations) and community organizations (e.g., Wilfred Laurier Aboriginal Cultural Events, Distress Centre).

I was responsible for evaluating and implementing a software solution for the coordination of all Department research involving student participants. I established guidelines and protocols for monitoring all current institutional research studies. Currently I am administering and assisting with hundreds of departmental student-participant studies.

I worked with course instructors to provided students with a strong foundation and understanding in psychological theory, statistical methods, data analysis, and experimental and non-experimental research methods. In addition, I was responsible for evaluating student exams, assignments and term papers while providing detailed feedback.

I conducted an evaluation that identified and consulted with key stakeholders to assess the current operations of the Aboriginal Research Centre programs. By documenting program practices, conducting semi-structured and case study interviews, focus groups and surveys, I assessed the feasibility of programs to successfully obtain intended outcomes. I made recommendations to help program administrators increase service success and to make strategic planning decisions.

I have been collaborating with the Director of Six Nations Health Services to develop and conduct an evaluation of eleven federal and provincial healthcare programs focusing on the client service structure and community participation in health services. The goal of this project is to assess program-client interactions and to prioritize health-concerns for the community. I have conducted numerous culturally-sensitive interviews and focus groups with community members and healthcare professionals. Currently we are working implementing a framework for Health Services to conduct community consultations, documenting and assessing the psychophysical, sociocultural issues affecting positive health and health-related behaviours.

I worked with the Diversity Office to develop the Inclusion Index, a measurement indicator assessing employee perceptions of the level of inclusiveness in the OPS. In addition I helped produce two sets of reports (i.e., 2009, 2011) documenting vulnerabilities in the engagement and work experiences of vulnerable OPS employees (e.g., visible minorities, LGBT, women).
