My practice focuses on medical malpractice litigation and the formation of physician-oriented management structures, as well as asset protection for individuals. I work on the formation of physician-owned alternative insurance structures, including captive insurance companies, RPGs and RRGs, as well as physician-owned management solutions, including independent physician associations (IPAs), accountable care organizations (ACOs), and patient safety organizations (PSOs).As a litigation attorney, I defend hospitals, medical centers, physician groups, individual physicians and managed care entities in medical malpractice and negligence cases. I have particular expertise in cases involving catastrophic loss, products liability and compliance issues. I also consult and advise hospitals and other health care facilities on restructuring risk management processes and compliance issues.I also serve as national supervising counsel for two privately held captive insurance collectives and am vice-president of captive “incubator” Midwest Consultants, where I work with pending and existing projects, assisting doctors and hospitals in forming captive insurance companies.
