CurrentThis was initially a secondment from the Ministry of Justice but is now a full-time position.The initial focus of the role was on developing and undertaking the ‘Digital and Data Investments’ data collection exercise concerning ICT and Digital planned and current investments across government. The 2018 exercise provided, for the first time, a comprehensive cross-agency view of such investments. This work was commissioned by the Minister of Finance and enables better sequencing and prioritisation of investment decisions across government. The exercise was repeated in 2019 and 2020 and is due to be repeated in 2021.More recently, I joined the recently established Business Intelligence team for the branch. I have become involved more broadly with a number of different datasets held by the branch, both financial and non-financial.Investment Data Collection Activities- Worked closely with a select group of agencies to prototype a data collection template for investment data.- Designed the template for the formal data collection exercise, working with subject matter experts and utilising the learnings from the prototyping exercise. After the 2018 exercise I have led significant improvements to the data collection based on the 2018 experience and calling on expert advice.- Conducted quality control on incoming data and worked with agencies to improve the usability of the data.- Designed the means to consolidate the collected investment data to enable easy analysis.Business Intelligence / Visualisation- Analysis of data to identify themes and interventions.- Creation and maintenance of data models linking various datasets together.- Development of dashboards in Excel and Power BI allowing data to be visualised and interrogated.- Development and maintenance of the Information Security Standard Operating Procedures for the branch.
