Process streams were analysed using on-line GC and mass spectrometry.Ex situ catalyst characterization was performed using a variety of techniques, ingluding thermogravimetric analysis (TGA-MS), surface area analysis (BET), powder XRD, and pulse chemisorption.Mechanistic insights into the behaviour of higher oxygenates on the surface of a working methanol catalyst were obtained by performing labelling studies, using both carbon and deuterium labelled species.Duties included:-Presentation of research findings to industrial sponsors at quarterly meetings-supervision of undergraduate laboratories-organisation and running of monthly internal group meetings
