My practice is in the area of commercial real estate and project land transactions. I have extensive experience with respect to a broad spectrum of commercial real estate and land matters under both the Land Titles Act (Alberta) and the Public Lands Act (Alberta). Of particular note is my experience and knowledge of pipeline and midstream matters, telecommunications real estate matters, land assembly for development purposes, compliance with the Foreign Ownership of Land Regulations of Alberta respecting acquisitions of land by foreign controlled corporations, commercial and residential subdivisions, development and planning matters, leasing matters and the acquisition and disposition of commercial real estate.My practice also involves transactions for commercial real estate developments including office buildings, shopping centers and industrial properties, leasing for retail, industrial and office developments, including land leases, and the financing of leasehold estates, project financing, condominium developments, title insurance matters, joint ventures, limited partnerships and co-ownership agreements. My practice regularly brings me into contact with municipalities and other governmental and regulatory authorities. My practice involves due diligence and title reviews. I also have experience advising on First Nations land matters.Most recently, I have added to my bank of experience acting for clients with respect to retail cannabis locations, acting for clients involved in the acquisition of land rights and mining rights for the purpose of exploring for and mining of sand and other aggregates, as well as acting for a large utility company respecting the acquisition of additional water rights and with respect to the licensing for additional infrastructure relating to such additional water rights.I am delighted to confirm that effective October 30, 2024, I have joined the Calgary office of the firm of Parlee McLaws LLP.
