Undertaking analysis of pesticide residues in a range of matrices using a variety of extraction, purification, concentration and quantitative techniques in a busy agrochemical analysis laboratory. Residues are determined by LC-MS/MS and GC-MS. As part of my duties I performed instrument setup, including mobile phase preparation, column selection, pump and auto-sampler operation and sequence writing. I also used Chemstation©,Analyst© and XCalibur© software to quantify residues and present results. Analysis is undertaken on specimens from controlled residue trials, Operator Exposure (OPEX) studies, soil dissipation studies, frozen storage stability and Validation studies according to SANCO/825, all of which are carried out in compliance with GLP. SD and PI experience gained.

Working in a UKAS accredited laboratory determining BOD, COD, VFA, TPH, turbidity and suspended solids on a variety of environmental matrices including waste and potable waters, effluents, leachates, sludges and oils. I gained experience operating and maintaining a Varian GC-FID using Chromeleon© software for data analysis. I also carried out instrument maintenance including the changing septa and liners, and column installation. I routinely used E-Lims software coupled with a barcoding system to submit and present results.
