Montrose Alpha – Production Technician (2014-Present)As part of the operations team on Montrose Alpha I have been heavily involved in the new topside BLP instalment and commissioning. The project has seen major refurbishment and rejuvenation of the Montrose platform along with the integration of the new Topside to maximise the reservoir potential for the new and existing wells. The work has involved leak testing, line walking and commissioning of systems in a controlled manner. The project has been brought on in good time and has maintained a great safety performance throughout. Daily duties include:• Operating all subsea and topside process plant, utilities equipment and systems in a safe and efficient manner under the direction of the Production Supervisor ensuring production operations are delivered within safety guidelines and procedures • Monitor and control the flow of hydrocarbons from the reservoir to point of export while recording plant conditions, bringing deviations or malfunctions to the attention of the Production Supervisor• Preparing process plant and equipment for maintenance by applying specified isolations/venting etc• Maintaining my own work area in a safe, clean and tidy condition• Carrying out process system sampling as required and undertaking any relevant regulatory training• Carrying out regular inspections of the installation – ICare, permit audits, Hazard Hunts etc• Minimizing downtime and contributing to the achievement of production targets• Performing first line maintenance, identifying and reporting faults• Carrying out gas tests and work-site inspections as an Area Authority delegate• Carrying out emergency duties as required • Monitoring and adjusting chemical injection equipment• General utilities duties including the bunkering of diesel/water • Taking part in Risk Assessment, trouble-shooting and fault-finding activities

G4 Ethylene Cracker, Grangemouth

My responsibility is to control a major ethylene cracker using a highly complex Honeywell DCS control system, ensuring the safe running and optimisation of this unit. Often this is done using information gathered from other sources such as our support engineers, lab test results, PI, primavera, maximo & production planning. On a daily basis I build, modify and issue Control of Work permits following HSE, COSHH, Risk Assessments and Method Statement guidance. In the event of plant emergencies or trips I am responsible for the recovery of the plant in a manner uncompromising to the safety of fellow colleagues, the local community and the environment. My position is the lead technician responsible for directing the shift work scope for a 5 person team.
