Swansea

Driving change and performance improvement at one of our most complex and troubled sites within Europe. The Swansea site has experienced a transformation in the last 18 months with a combination of supply chain improvements, Application of lean manufacturing and a root and branch review of the strategic direction and value added activities. Site is returning to profit from a legacy of multi million pound losses in recent years. All KPI's are close to or at target and being sustained.The site in Swansea is the most critical site in the region being the principal materials manufacturer and supplier for the region as well as global sister companies. The site also houses a finishing business for 5 distinct preoduct lines producing over 2500 different finished products. Activities on site include powder mixing, milling and extrusion, Pressing operations of varying sizes including high volume pressed to size parts. Heat treatment activities involving tunnel and large car kilns are used as well as foundry type departments for impregnatiing a varity of metals and resins. Finishing cells use bespoke equipment to standard CNC' and broaching machines. Quality approvals and checks are in line with aerospace, traction and nuclear requirements and auto inspection/ CMM capabilities are used on site. The Site Director is responsible for developing, coaching and leading the Site Management team to create a world class manufacturing operation in order to deliver the defined goals and budgets. The challenge is to optimise the value of the current business resources and assets, deliver improved financial performance and ensure the future success of the site.

Luxembourg

Responsible for the P&L of the CPI (Chemical Process Industry) and HT (High temp) business units across Europe the challenge was to grow the top line whilst realigning the 2 operations (Luxembourg and Redditch) to meet the market requirements of Quality, Cost, Delivery in order to increase margins and profitability.Secured group funding to double the UK site footprint after securing multi yr customer contract. Turned around Lux site to achieve full regulatory compliance and increased productivity as well as securing £500k group investment for new equipment enabling explotation of new product opportunity and delivering highest ever sales and profit result for the site.

Responsible for Manufacturing and QEHS activities at 12 sites across Europe. Focus on standardisation, right sizing, consolidation and continuous improvement using the Lean toolkit. Led implementation of Oliver Wight Sales and Operation Planning (SOP) system. Identified technology transfer opportunities to various sister sites including China, Mexico, US and India
