I manage a personal contract portfolio of Medical Imaging, Pathology, Waste, Hotel Services, Food, Linen, Renal, Orthopaedics and Prosthesis. I am involved in the procurement, contract management, market opportunity and relationship management for each of these services and work closely with the Executive to ensure it meets the districts needs and strategic plan.I oversee two distinct teams including the Fleet, Accommodation, Travel and Transport Team as well as the Procurement, Contract Management and Clinical Products Team. I am responsible for the strategic and operational directions including sustainability planning, feasible management including its development, coordination and outcome driven targets.

I was appointed this role in mid 2013 involving the introduction of allied health clinical advisors to assist the Director of Community Health. It provided rural Occupational Therapists with the opportunity to network and develop systems in line with state objectives.Achievements include risk management of all equipment loan pools across the district with update of the Equipment Loan Pool Policy, development of the Advisor Action Plan, implemented videoconference technology, provided opportunities for sole practitioners to access professional development from larger sites, coordination and development of the Paediatrics Interest Group, review and streamlining of district clinical prioritisation methods and practices for community adult, community paeds, acute and rehab services. As part of my role I attended the NSW OT Advisors Committee and have since commenced as co-secretary for 2014. I have taken over responsibility from the Director of Community Health as the Enable Relationship Manager for Southern LHD including attendance of meetings and regular liaison involving complex matters. I was responsible for all complex Occupational Therapy matters including responses to ministerials for example. This has been a very exciting opportunity for me and has seen positive impacts for Southern LHD Occupational Therapists in a short period of time.

Goulburn Health Service

I held this role for over two years involving the day to day management of approximately 47 FTE allied health staff across Goulburn Health Service. This included management of all allied health services including clinical governance, accreditation, human resources, payroll, financial planning, recruitment and retention, structural management, change management, meeting and planning with GHS executive staff, chairing and secretary for several meetings and committees including Allied Department Heads, Work Health Safety, Information Management and Executive. The role also entailed a large component of strategic planning such as models of care, decision memorandums, development of briefs, portfolios and business planning. An extensive broad knowledge is required to oversee all of the Community Health and inpatient programs participated and led by allied health staff to ensure that effective evidence based care is provided to patients and the community.

Goulburn Health Service

As Occupational Therapy Manager I oversee the day to day running of the Occupational Therapy service in Goulburn and the surrounding region. This includes acute Goulburn Base Hospital, Community Health Centre and slow stream rehabilitation BSHS facility. My role as well as managerial duties includes a full clinical caseload and supervision of staff across the areas of paediatrics, mental health, palliative care, adult community and outpatients including hand splinting, chronic care programs, acute medical, acute surgical and rehabilitation. In the last 12 months a new Sub Acute Rehabilitation Ward has opened in Goulburn of which I played a pivotal part in its development. I manage a team of 6.4 FTE including three Allied Health Assistants.I have a very broad range of clinical skills in all areas listed above that allows me to orientate and mentor all new staff to the health service regardless of their experience or interests. Managerial tasks include leader of accreditation, OHS&IM profiles, developing team quality activities, monthly reports, leave planners, rosters, in-services, prioritising the caseload, development of policies, protocols and procedures, KPI's, risk management, student co-ordinator, complying with EBP and journal clubs, chairing department meetings, manual handling coordinator, developing business plans and ensuring patient care is paramount.
