As the general manager of R. Moore and Sons, I lead a team of highly talented and professional people. I encourage a performance-based culture within the business and ensure that, as a team, we’re on a journey that is continually evolving our ability to deliver the exceptional quality and punctuality for which RMS is known.I ensure we strategically align ourselves with our clients in order to properly understand their requirements, what is most important to them, and exactly what they need from us. There is a lot of pride in our shop, and we know the importance of what we do for our clients. I ensure our clients can contact me when it is required, and I promote direct and honest communication both with our clients and within our business. This culture of honesty and genuine care for our clients has helped RMS to remain a longstanding, secure business for 100 years as of 2020.The team at RMS is highly inquisitive and I have been keenly involved in this aspect of the business. I have travelled across the world and had conversations with people both inside and outside the industry in order to investigate the best practices in machining, equipment and tooling around the world. Our board of 4 company directors (of which I am a member), place great trust in me to make informed decisions that are right for the company and help to move us forward as a business. To this end, I look at the strategic direction of the business, and collaborate with our management team to bring high level requirements to the board of directors. When an opportunity arises to acquire a new piece of cutting-edge technology, the structure of our leadership at RMS allows us to act quickly and make decisions that expand our capabilities as a business.I have been the general manager at RMS since 2005 and been with the business since 1991. I started here as a workshop leading hand; working on the floor, doing quotations, talking to clients and visiting them in person. Moving into my role as general manager necessitated a separation from the day to day personal contact I used to have with our clients, but I still enjoy the chance to catch up with many of them face-to-face.
