Producing service documentation, conceptual solution architecture documents and high and low level designs.Work with Business Partners to deliver projects on time with greater efficiency. Assist the teams to drive projects to completion and ensure they are following best practices. Often assuming the role of Domain Architect where the project team doesn't have the knowledge.Ongoing development of NG UK Azure platform. Evolving the cloud roadmap and delivering new services. Develop good relationships with business units to understand Azure demand pipeline.Develop good relationships with key supplier contacts (Wipro, Microsoft, Oracle, Red Hat, etc..). Identify areas for improvements and if things start going wrong have the right contacts to remediate and keep escalations to a minimum.Assist auditors where required with Cloud Audit information for SOX compliance and implementing processes to ensure compliance is maintained and can be demonstrated.Work in conjunction with Service Transition team to put in place governance and produce project transition checklist documentation.Produce conceptual solution architecture, high and low level design documentation where required.Produce reference architecture patterns for Cloud services offered.Cloud Optimisation - Identify areas for improvement and proposal of cost cutting initiatives.

Key responsibilities :Assisting with the ongoing technical development of SCC's Commercial Cloud Platform within a multi-tenant and multi-datacentre architecture.Responsible for Developing Database as a Service (DBaaS) products for Private cloud delivered by Windows Azure Pack (WAP)Support customers to ensure design of technical solutions are in line with the requirements of the customer and are fit for purpose.Produce high-Level solutions and low-level technology designs.Act as a technical reference for customers including liaising with the business in the requirements, communication and support of any technical solutions.Evaluation of new technologies and vendor solutions by setting up required infrastructure and testing either in the SCC lab or public cloud.Contribute to the production of reference architectures for services offered as part of the data centre offerings.Recent projects have included:Architecting a Disaster Recovery solution to the SCC data centers for a customers database environments which included various flavours of SQL Server, Oracle and DB2.High level designs for a Digital Asset Management solution using public cloud.Architecting migration solution for customers for on-premise database environments to the SCC private cloud.

Responsible for protecting and enhancing the design integrity of the applications and technical environment and to provide expertise on technical solutions to support new IT services or changes to existing services. Responsible for standard DBA duties such as tuning, troubleshooting, writing stored procedures, report writing for other teams (using T-SQL), fixing corrupt databases and put into place data maintenance schedules and recovery procedures which did not previously exist.Also had to perform extensive performance monitoring for our web environment and tune the SQL server using this information.Project work has included the setup of NT, IIS4 (Web & FTP) & SQL servers (local and remotely) for new applications in Munich and Miami, which has required me to install, setup and configure a number of Microsoft Cluster servers. These systems connect to the IBM DB2 mainframes to provide clients with airline availability, hotel booking information, etc.Other project work has included creating and implementing a backup strategy for our servers using Legato and liasing with our Tools Team to setup BMC Patrol to monitor our servers and in conjunction with the web team fully automating the web loads which had previously been a completely manual operation.Also responsible for putting in place disaster recovery for our systems in Munich & Miami.Required to provide NT support to other teams and provide solutions to their problems or requirements, which has also resulted in me quite often having to perform substantial NT scripting.

Responsible for the Database Administration, maintenance, tuning and troubleshooting of approximately 80 SQL servers the majority of which I was supporting remotely as they were located across the rest of Europe, the Middle East & Africa.My primary responsibilities were to provide Technical Support to Development departments (Web, Price List, Sales and Customer Fault Tracking systems, etc) and to test and evaluate new software before installing into production, plan and implement all hardware changes and produce reports for Management of potential new products, services and problems, also responsible for monitoring performance and capacity planning. Project work included testing existing systems for Y2K compatibility and migrating our various systems from SQL 6.5 to SQL 7.0, evaluation and eventual migration of our Price List systems from Sybase 10 on SCO Unix to MS SQL Server 6.5 on NT 4.0. Also oversaw the sunset or migration of Compaq’s remaining Sybase servers.
