Marella Cruises

Responsible for all security duties and requirements on board the ship, reporting to the Staff Captain who was the Ship Security Officer. I was assigned to the Marella Celebration, a medium cruise ship with 1250 guests and 500 officers and crew.Responsibilities included the following: -Ensure the security of the ship and compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code.Access control to the ship and security screening of guests and crew.Supervision, organisation and training of onboard security personnel.Conducting security exercises and drills as per the company and ISPS requirements.Security Training including Induction training for all crew.Conducting Incident & Accident Investigations including reporting to incidents to the company.Administering the onboard disciplinary system.Cabin and area searches for contraband, lost or stolen property and offensive weapons.Preventive maintenance on security equipmentEnsuring the company’s Drug and Alcohol policy was complied with including conducting random and with cause drug and alcohol testing.Monitoring the ships master key system.Monitoring and Administering the ship’s CCTV system and security team's body camera system including downloading images and video files from the systems.

I was assigned to the Minerva of Swan Hellenic Cruises which was managed by V Ships on behalf of its owner and operator. I was responsible for the day-to-day Security Operations on board the ship whilst reporting to the Staff Captain who was the designated Ship Security Officer. Minerva was a small discovery cruise ship which has allowed me to gain experience of small ship operations. Due to its operations it often went to smaller less visited ports. During my employment I learned new skills including key cutting and lock fitting. I also commenced a program of sourcing spare parts and repairing the cabin safes thereby significantly reducing the number of new safes required.

Responsible for all security duties and requirements on board the ship. I worked on ships from each class being operated by Holland America Line fleet, with the majority of assignments being on Vista Class ships, which were the largest in their fleet at that time.
