CurrentAs Associate Director for Collections and Discovery, I lead the strategic development and optimisation of services related to Collections and Discovery. This includes Archives and Special Collections, Collections Acquisitions, Collections Management and Discovery, Resource Delivery, Metadata, and Archive and Library Systems Management. I also led in the delivery of business and change management, finance, contract negotiation, performance management, consortia engagement and project management. In this capacity, I provided consultancy and reporting services for a range of scholarly communication and digital capability research projects for clients including the Wellcome Trust, the Open Knowledge Foundation and the BBC. Additionally, I provided short-term consultancy acting as Stakeholder and Communications Manager for the BBC in support of the Research and Education Space (RES) project, delivering service.

My role as Project Director involved the direction and coordination of the Strategic Content Alliance in collaboration with Jisc partners, including: Arts Council England, the British Library, the BBC, Heritage Lottery Fund and the Wellcome Library. Essential aspects of the role included: the scoping and commission of empirical research reports, the creation of online tools and the design of a bespoke skills development programme for librarians and curators. Equally, and as UK funding agency participation lead in the ‘Digging into Data’ trans-Atlantic collaboration, I helped facilitate next generation researcher skills, technologies and new audience engagement.Maintaining relationships through the conduct of regular and productive activities and briefings with key senior executive at partnership organisations, I successfully developed new UK and overseas collaborations and attracted new inward investment. I also developed the communication strategy and measurable implementation plan, supporting the dissemination and impact of all Alliance outputs and engaging in the compliant and accurate financial management, setting budgets for new programmes of work and making key investment decisions.In addition, I regularly commissioned goods and services procurement; provided quality and risk assurance leadership and incorporated validated functionality requirements.

This included the subsequent deployment of several million new on-line e-resources such as medical journals, audio / video, text and images, and the associated teaching and learning resources which were based on the Jisc Information Environment standards and made available free of charge to UK further and higher education institutions.
