I joined the Royal Marines back in the dark ages (1986), I have operational experience in Northern Ireland, Iraq, Afghanistan. I am a Mortar man by trade but have also a Skill at Arms qualification that qualified me to train the Navy on small arms-a challenge! Apart from Mortar Troop I have also been the Movements SNCO at 45, weapons instructor at HMS Sultan, staff at Colchester military prison, Hunter Troop and Central Training Team at the Commando Training Centre, Mentor for the Iraqi Marines and Afghan Army Officer Training team. I left the Corps in Feb' 11 and did maritime security for a while but that industry is very unpredictable so I was able to re-join on a FTRS contract at Hasler Company as the employment & education SNCO for the wounded guys who are to be discharged from service. I have had a great time in the Royal Marines and wish it could continue but now my contract is up and I need to move on and find another career.
