I am leading a consortium of local VCS organisations to develop and grow community-led housing projects in Hartlepool. We have set up a CIC to oversee this. I'm leading on the development of a 100 unit, community-led care village

I am responsible for all functions of the business, creating new revenue streams, winning contracts, developing partnerships, managing staff, project management, budget and financial management, liaising with funders and commissioners, delivering and measuring Social Value provision and reporting to Trustees. I'm responsible for the Community-led Housing aspect of the business including property management and maintenance, growing the asset portfolio, property refurbishment, tenancy management and developing specific, tenant-focussed projects within this part of the business. I oversee the training and development aspect of the business including managing trainees, developing meaningful work placements and apprenticeships, partnering with Hartlepool College and other providers

I sat as a lay member on the Disciplinary Committee which acted on behalf of the regulator for the Veterinary profession. It involved assimilating large amounts of complex information and using it to make objective judgements in a regulatory setting. I Chaired a number of hearings which involved ensuring the case ran smoothly and all participants were treated fairly and with respect, making sure the decision making processes ran smoothly and that committee members all contributed, maintaning objectivity amongst the members, communicating all decisions, both written and oral, in a clear, concise and understandable manner.

I was the National Lead Peer for the Independent Group at the LGA which involved taking part in Peer Reviews as part of a team assigned to a Council to look at specific areas. I worked with Councillors both individually and as political groups to provide them with advice, support and training around such areas as finance and budgeting, leadership, being an effective opposition, media and social media skills and would often be assigned to a Council to help resolve difficult political situation by acting as a mediator.

I was responsible for setting strategic direction and executive decision-making of Hartlepool Borough Council. I was the public face of the Council and accountable for all areas of service delivery and responsible for aligning it with local needs and aspirations with a budget of over £200 Million. I represented and promoted the town at regional, national and international level, including by carrying out a large number of weekly press, radio and tv interviews. I sat on a number of strategic Boards locally and regionally to influence and shape policy for the benefit of Hartlepool. I Chaired the Local Strategic, Crime Reduction and Health and Wellbeing Partnerships where I shaped and led local policy and services across the Borough.I was responsible for the political direction of the Council, Chaired the Cabinet, appointed Councillors to positions of responsibility and held them to account. I represented the Council within the Local Government Association and became an accredited peer. I sat on the National Mayoral forum

I was a member then Chair of the CPA, responsible for setting the strategic direction and budget oversight of Cleveland Police Force. I held the Chief Constable to account over service delivery and liaised with senior officers over specific policing matters. I oversaw disciplinary matters regarding senior staff and officers. I carried out extensive media engagements and interviews, promoting the force and being accountable for service delivery
