About Stuart Eastham
I have over 10 years experience in Higher Education Management which built upon a successful career within the Music Industry as a Producer and Session Musician. I value the focus of exploring creativity within music education, as a means for young people to develop their practice and interaction with theoretical constructs to support their confidence and development as reflective life long learners and practitioners. Further to my work within Higher Education Management I have also successfully completed a research project as part of my Masters which focuses on the use of statistical student data to predict student retention and achievement. The primary ambition of this research was to provide an opportunity for Higher Education institutes to reflect on the social, academic and societal challenges experienced by learners on their academic journey in a post covid educational environment.

Head Of Learning And Teaching
As Head of Learning and Teaching, my primary function is to manage all aspects of day to day teaching and learning across all levels of study from Diploma to Masters. This requires an understanding of the student learning journey and lecturer experience, which sees me working often in collaboration with faculty and student body. My role has progressed as the University has grown, which led to my involvement in helping to secure Taught Degree Awarding Powers through the undertaking of the process via the QAA (Quality Assurance Agency). Upon completion of this, i was part of the the design, pitching and convening team of BIMM’s degrees as the institute expanded to include multiple sectors of interest (Music, Film and Theatre) A personal focus for the development of this role has been widening participation to create an equitable learning journey for all students regardless of levels of experience and protected characteristics. This focus has lead to my involvement in local Equity and Diversity Initiatives whilst also consulting with other colleges across BIMM Group.
