Responsibility for the Production Planning and Material Control areas of the business. Managing a small team of production/material planning and data entry staff, developing an attitude of continuous improvement (Kaizen activity, ‘5 s’/7 wastes methodology). I ensured that the workload of my personnel was managed and prioritised, by setting daily, weekly and monthly objectives. Chairing the daily management meeting to review the previous day’s production activity and review the new day’s build targets. Chairing the monthly ‘rough cut schedule meeting’ with the Managing Director and Operations Director. Advising on monthly trends, presenting plans for the future fixed and forecast periods. Setting the required manpower levels for these periods. Controlling the weekly components issues meeting, to ensure the component availability for the coming months and identify all issues over the coming 7 months. In this role I oversaw the stock reduction of the company’s obsolete/slow moving stock by a value of £1.4 million over a three-year period. Held the responsibility for the setting of the departmental budgets and ensuring that the budgets are correctly managed. Responsible for the recruitment of personnel into the department as and when required. Liaising with the Sales department on a regular basis to ensure the customer’s expectations are met. Responsible for the organising of the company’s twice yearly stocktakes and organising all other departmental managers to ensure that deadlines for the stocktake are identified and meet on time. Managed the procurement of the raw materials required to produce the finished product when required working to a fixed two-month period and five month forecast period. Managed the control of the Master schedule maintaining production planning integrity, quality & delivery in all aspects.
