I have been incredibly fortunate to work in the field of quantum physics, something I find incredibly fascinating, for the past 5 years where I have built up a toolkit for the computational simulation of many-body quantum systems. I have been focusing on attempting to benchmark quantum hardware with the state-of-the-art classical algorithms (tensor network methods) in order to predict when the quantum advantage point may be reached for certain types of problems in theoretical physics as well as analyzing the details for experimental realizations of my theoretical predictions and simulations. It is extremely encouraging that many of these novel ideas for creating a physical quantum simulator/computer, some of which I have been working on, are receiving significant interest from industry with many believing that the time is right to be able to make quantum simulation into a tool that can benefit and give insights into problems that are relevant in the real world. The thought of being able to contribute in a significant way to the realization of these goals is one that I am incredibly passionate about. I hope that I can bring my technical expertise gained throughout my education and career as well as my project management, presentation and team-working skills, and apply them to a challenging and innovative problem in order to make quantum computation a reality.

Additionally, I utilise these quantum inspired classical numerical methods to study models for electron transport in materials as well as for partial differential equations relevant for fluid dynamics. -
Summer InternRutherford Appleton Laboratory Jul 2016 - Aug 2016I aided in the construction of a prototype semi-conductor particle detector used for the ATLAS experiment at CERN. I had to calibrate and test the accuracy of the robotic placement machine and had to evaluate the feasibility of using robotics in the final production stages. This project gave me experience working in an industrial research lab and allowed me to develop patience and precision when working with scientific tools. -
