    I initially started working at the Wigan Outbound Call Centre as a Telesales Executive. My role was towork from a dialler system contacting existing customers with only basic services and up-selling themto other products, all whilst renewing subscriptions in to a new contract. We also received a bonus ontop of our normal commission generating a new customer referral during the call and then signed upafter passing credit checks etc... I was asked to trial a new acquisition role for approximately 6 weeks at the end of 2005. I createdmy own script and then worked closely with our I.T & tech support team to create data for me to call.I succeeded so well that in January 2006 I was promoted to New Acquisition Manager in the Wiganoffice until 2007 prior to the company merging with NTL and becoming the new company VirginMedia. I declined the redundancy payout and accepted the offer of relocation to their new Manchesterbased call centre (old NTL building in Wythenshaw) as New Acquisition Manager with a team of 13Telesales Executives who I personally wrote new scripts to use for cold calling and then trained to closesales following DPA. My responsibility for managing the team along with a monthly sales target wasalways over-achieved with record sales that are still yet to be beat - I know this because I occasionallyget calls from ex-colleagues asking for help and advice.

I would also be given pages within our papers and tasked to create feature pages of some sort, simply so that extra revenue was gained by selling as many adverts as possible from sales tobusinesses within our database of previous clients. I would simply telephone our old customers and sellan advert within within my own "gimmicky" feature page I created, therefor turning a problem into asolution and always gaining the extra revenue for the newspaper to hit it's production target.
