Following several years as Fire Prevention Officer in JHB, joined Bowring Barclays as a Fire Consultant on the Anglo American and Barlow group risk control programme. In search for wider Risk Management ( Financing ) knowledge beyond operational Risk Control joined IGI and subsequently SBIB between 1987-1991 in the Western Cape. Moved to the UK in 1991 to take up a position as Manager of Bain Clarkson Risk Services and Risk Consultants, and subsequently made a Director of the same. Following the acquisition of the Hogg Group in 1994, by Inchcape, Bain Hogg became Britain's biggest insurance brokerage at the time and the 11th largest in the world. Joined Computacenter PLC in 1998 as a consulting Group Risk and Insurance Manager to intitially review the Group Enterprise Risk and Risk financing structure, and then led to harnessing a Group Risk team addressing group wide risk in the UK and across the Groups European operations. Left Computacenter in 2003 to return to South Africa to take up the role initially as General Manager operations for Unison Risk Management (Pty) Ltd and was subsequently made CEO in 2006. Unison Risk Management Alliance (Pty) Ltd is a subsidiary of GIB Insurance Brokers PTY Ltd and structure and place the risk financing and insurance arrangements for a number of prominent retail businesses within and beyond South Africa. Unison partners both locally and abroad in over 13 different countries with some of the frontrunners in the risk management, risk financing and insurance industry to provide its Corporate clients and their employees a wide range of products and services focusing on both corporate and individual related business. URMA are proud Corporate members of the Institute of Risk Management SA (IRMSA) Personal interests have always been sport mainly rowing and rugby, having played Rugby until the age of 45, Motor Cycling, Travel and a taste for espresso.
