25 years experience in managing investments and running businesses within the Asset Management industry.Held the roles of both CIO and CEO at different times over the past decade for a large Japanese Asset Management company.Created the World's first Green Bond fund back in 2010 in conjunction with the World Bank.Co-founded Affirmative Investment Management in 2014, the world's first global asset management dedicated to investing in only Impact bonds. Graduating from the London School of Economics with a First Class Honours Degree, he worked for Morgan Stanley and ANZ Merchant before joining F&C Investment Management as a Fixed Income Portfolio Manager. During his time at F&C he became involved with the Japanese joint venture LTCB Foreign, taking responsibility for all investment policy before taking charge of the operation as Managing Director. Stuart left F&C to join Nikko AM Europe in London, being elevated to Chief Investment Officer in 1999. In this position Stuart helped grow assets from $1 billion to over $17 billion. He also assumed the combined position of CIO/CEO on different occasions to facilitate the company's development. Stuart has been an invited speaker at major industry conferences on issues from Emerging Markets to Asset Allocation and more recently Green bonds. For many years Stuart has acted as a Senior Advisor on a multi billion $ supranational pension fund and Sovereign Wealth Funds. In 2010 Stuart worked closely with the World Bank to create the World's first dedicated Green Bond Fund became a leading advocate for responsible and Impact investing in the Fixed Income space. Stuart's close work with the World Bank led him to believe that debt markets should be a major conduit in addressing some of the World's pressing problems. In 2014 Stuart left Nikko to set up the first asset management dedicated to investing only in debt instruments that both generated market financial returns and Environmental or Social Impact.Stuart created a new investment process that the new entity, Affirmative Investment Management adopted, helping to distinguish itself from the rest of the market. Affirmative established a reputation for excellence and integrity within the impact bond space. They became the market leader, Helping the impact bondmarket to become more mainstream.
