As part of Fotech’s Senior Leadership Team, I participated in the process which led to the acquisition of Fotech by bp Launchpad. In the following two years I enjoyed taking an active role in the integration of Fotech into bp as the business embarked on a journey of rapid growth and change.Most recently, there were two main aspects to my role:In Business Development, I led the expansion into the global market and further developed solutions beyond Oil & Gas, in Security, Smart Cities, Intelligent Transport, and Offshore Wind. I took responsibility to identify and initiate opportunities in each sector by carrying out market research, finding the right partners, defining the value proposition and business models, and identifying funding, as well as working with our engineering team to define and develop the answer products.As Product Line Director, I formulated the road map and plan to position Fotech's technology and business model as a leader in each of chosen sectors. This included creation of the Fotech Sales Playbook, and development of the pricing strategy.Throughout, I've been an advocate for change as Fotech has adopted an Agile management style.I regularly presented at events and published articles, papers, videos and webinars, distilling this complex technology in to a simple story anybody can understand.One particular highlight was to win funding from the Department For Transport for the Adept LiveLabs SIMULATE program, an Air Quality challenge in which fibre optic sensing data will be used to monitor traffic at a road intersection, and the data will be used to sequence the traffic lights with the goal of reducing emissions from passing vehicles, and improving local air quality. I delivered the winning technical and commercial pitches, and led the start-up of the project, which has now won an award from the Fibre Optic Sensing Association, FOSA.
Driving the growth of Fotech's Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) produce sales and services across multiple industries, including Oil & Gas, Pipeline Monitoring, Rail and Security.- Identification, understanding and development of market opportunities.- Specification and direction of new product/service introductions.- Development of Fotech competencies.- Formation of key industry partnerships.DAS is a rapidly evolving technology with a number of applications in multiple industries.
