Worked as Oracle Lead, with the responsibility of managing anything related / associated to Oracle (both internally, and as a managed service for external customers, commonly 24/7). Managing over 150 DB’s, sized upto 3TB, versions from 9i to 12c, RAC and standalone. Utilising OEM 10g and 12c Cloud Control, RMAN, Dataguard, VMware, and Zerto to provide monitoring, management, off-site backup and DR between multiple co-location Data Centres.Some of the key projects and tasks that I have undertaken are as follows.• Complete re-location of an enterprise size Oracle E-Business Suite solution (multiple interconnect linked DB’s, across multiple data centres, size circa 5TB and 1M rows/day, using storage replication based backup and DR), within tight SLA’s and minimal downtime.• Virtualisation of production Oracle DB’s and Application tiers onto VMware ESXi.• Coaching and mentoring of team members, to assist with skill progression and cross-skilling.• Prioritisation of wordload and issues, including delegation of tasks.• Incident and Problem Management, in line with SLA agreements.• Technical Architecture of internal and external customer solutions.• Disaster Recovery planning, and DR testing.• Technical Delivery Management - working alongside Project Managers to efficiently deliver solutions.• Provide consultancy advice & assistance for Oracle, Unix, Linux, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, general troubleshooting, and Performance Tuning tasks.• Perform Customer Service Reviews, and scope further potential consultancy project work.• Negotiate and Manage 3rd Party Oracle Support Contracts, including defining out-of-hours support process.• Complete audits for Oracle Licensing purposes, and assist auditors for Daisy’s ISO27001 accreditation.• Passed BPSS Security Clearance.

My role at Outsourcery was that of Lead Oracle Applications & SQL Server DBA, coupled with Technical Architect and Unix / Linux Administration.My area of responsibility embraced everything from IT systems architecture, technical delivery management, through to production systems support and the mentoring of DBA’s / peers to ensure the transfer of skills and allocation of tasks suited to each individuals strengths / weaknesses. This includes unix / linux server provisioning, database design, installation, instance creation, capacity planning, contention monitoring, performance tuning, hot & cold backup / recovery, disaster recovery (DR) planning & testing, security, licensing, and both OS and Oracle Applications & RDBMS patching / upgrades in a high-availability / low-downtime environment.Key projects as follows.• Virtualisation - Successfully virtualised all of the Oracle eBusiness Suite production application tiers onto Red Hat VMware ESXi guest servers.• Oracle 11g RAC - Designed and built a clustered data warehouse to ensure resilient systems that meet business SLA’s, and further allow customers continuous access without downtime.• Disaster Recovery - Designed, implemented and tested a full off-site DR plan (involving continuous off-site disk level replication) to protect the Oracle & Geneva systems, followed by full recovery on remote servers within agreed timescales.• HP Zero Downtime Backup - Reduced the database downtime & backup window from 10hrs to 15mins.• Grid Control - Installed and configured Oracle OEM Grid Control to allow remote monitoring of all Oracle databases from 1 central server.• Storage Migration - Successfully migrated all the Oracle databases from HP EVA3000/4000 to an HP XP24000 Disk Array.• Database Administration – Currently manage over 20 Oracle (9i – 11g RAC) and Clustered SQL Server (2005/2008) databases located both locally & remotely, and ranging in size up to 2TB with transactions of up to 1 million rows/day.

I joined DSGi as a .NET Developer and SQL Server DBA, developing a custom CRM and Order Management solution, a .NET based intranet, as well as various company websites. In 2004 I was chosen to be the Lead DBA for DSGi on their £6M Oracle E-Business Suite 11i (including Oracle Financials) & Convergys Geneva implementation, working closely along-side project consultants, Oracle Consulting DBA’s, and the projects major stakeholders.
