Led a software development team of 22. My team resolved production incidents with an emphasis on determining the root cause; maintained the day-to-day operation of DMS; and analyzed, designed, and programmed DMS application enhancements using Java, J2EE, and Docucorp’s file management software. I worked with project managers, other application managers, and executive management to coordinate these efforts with a focus on customer service. I created and managed the department budget, managed third party vendors, defined goals and objectives and wrote yearly performance evaluations to measure the progress of meeting those goals, helped identify areas where cross-training is needed and worked to fill those gaps, and provided weekly status reports to executive management.

Responsible for more than 20 direct reports. My job was to lead, coach, and mentor my team to accomplish tax compliance projects on a quarterly basis using HP3000 Image, COBOL, MPE, HP9000 Unix, Oracle, and MicroFocus COBOL. I was responsible for hiring, resource planning, establishing individual and team goals and objectives, working with users to set priorities, project management, performance evaluations, and progressive discipline when necessary. Notable accomplishments include rewriting a table-driven tax-forms creation system, implementing a Balance As You Go project, and participating in a major platform conversion from HP3000 to HP9000. Before leaving, I interfaced with many Offshoring companies such as Infosys, Mascon, and Satyam on bids for projects that were outsourced.

Responsible for coordinating, analyzing, and designing business application systems. Functions include overall functional system design, database design, detailed programming specifications, and system implementation on an HP3000 using Image, MPE, and COBOL. Performed analysis and design and implemented a Proof of Delivery and Merchandise Returns system resulting in user efficiency increasing ten-fold.

Account Manager (1990 to 1991)Managed a customer base of 15. Maintained a line of communication with each client to keep appraised of their business needs, evaluate each situation, recognize possible problems or areas for potential improvement, and manage and coordinate a development team to implement a solution to meet the company’s business strategy. Customer satisfaction increased 100% as a result of my efforts. Systems Analyst (1988 to 1990)Work with an Account Manager and clients to determine customer’s needs, functionally design a new system or modify their current system, write detailed programming specifications, and work with the development team toward a finished product on an HP3000 using Image, MPE, and COBOL.

Working with end users every day gave me the insight of how they view application software. I worked with everyone from the President to data entry clerks. This experience taught me how to view the system through their eyes as well as my own. All programming was done on an HP3000 using MPE, Image, HP Basic, and COBOL.
