About Stuart Maxwell, Md
I am a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician with the commitment to providing excellent patient care in the Emergency Department, Urgent Care, and Telemedicine settings. During my 16-plus-year career I have worked in both community and academic facilities, providing direct patient care and supervising residents and PA and NP providers. For most of this time, I have worked in a busy Level I trauma center Emergency Department in Fresno, CA. During my time at Community Regional Medical Center, I have cared for a broad spectrum of patients from the worried well to the critically ill. A most important part of my ED Medical Director role, I was pivotal in developing the ED Provider at Triage zone, designed to quickly move low acuity patients, preserving ED beds for ill patients that require them the most. Also for 9 years, I had the rewarding experience of managing the CRMC ED PA and NP workforce. My time and past administrative roles in Emergency Medicine have also taught me the value of flexibility. While efficient work is vital to the practice of EM, it is our skill at handling the endless variation of patient, staff, leadership, and consultant issues that sets us apart. Day or night, resolving conflict and making connections between these groups has been an important skill I have incorporated into my practice.
