Inspired by a world in motion from an early age it was a natural step to initially study Mechanical Engineering. Advancing to a PhD in the Materials Department at Imperial College, London allowed me to develop my growing passion for Aerospace and the development of Composite materials.I then worked for approximately 10 years as a Salaryman in a leading multi-national Defence, Security and Aerospace company called BAE SYSTEMS as a Scientist, specialising in the Engineering Design and Analysis of Aerospace products. A role in which I published over 30+ Technical Research Reports and received a Chairman's Award for Innovation.Fascinated in later years by Technology and Innovation Management, I was drawn to a more senior role involving Technology Information Management that developed my skills in funding and supervising PhD staff and coordinating research between Universities and Industry.Moving to Japan to work under the invitation of JAXA in 2012 was a dream come true allowing me to develop my cultural interest in Japan with my background in Aerospace. It has be a fascinating work-life cultural shift in which I’ve been fortunate to work with talented Japanese researchers, present at conferences in Japanese and publish the results of research in International journals.In 2015 after a brief role as a Collaboration Researcher between JAXA and Sophia University I was invited to lecture at Sophia University in a Green Engineering Programme on Material Science topics which include Photovoltaics (Technology, Trends and Foresight), Composites and Designing with CAE/FEA.During this period I was appointed as a Project Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo where I jointly developed research for the University of Tokyo on Composite materials and a Japanese company called IHI Corporation.When I am not working and keeping up to date with developments in Science and Technology, I enjoy relaxing with family at Japanese ryokan and researching the life of Rita Taketsuru.
