The Climate Justice Coalition is a coalition of groups and individuals committed to building solidarity and power for Climate Justice in Britain and across the globe. My role in the coalition is:- Coordinating the Trade Union Caucus, bringing together hundreds of trade unionists for climate justice and a just transition;- Relationship management with partners across the trade union and climate justice movements;- Project Lead for We Make Tomorrow, trade union climate justice conferences, bringing together 150+ trade unionists of diverse seniorities and backgrounds from all major unions- Project Lead for trade union mobilisation for demonstrations around the COP summits and other mobilisations, including mobilising circa 10,000 trade unionists around COP26- Organisation of regular online educational and strategic events

- Base organising of new and development of existing branches (Local Action Groups) across the South West and West Midlands including mapping; membership recruitment; activist recruitment, training and development; and establishing communications and fundraising infrastructure;- Serving on the Network Coordination and Training Teams, developing the activist training programme, activist resources, digital tools, events and other processes- Consulting re strategic organising on campaign plans and producing bespoke activist participation pathways and resources for national campaigns- Project Management of regional activist conferences(up to 200 attendees at each)

- Design and development of new distributed structure of volunteer led teams, significantly increasing capacity- Development of digital and communications infrastructure to support volunteer teams- Development of a suite of online guides and a coaching programme for volunteer team leaders- Crowdfunding and small donor recruitment

As National Organiser (and co-founder) I have been very lucky to head up an amazing staff team at ACORN (and our Scottish sister organisation Living Rent) and am immensely proud of what we have achieved.I have been responsible for:- Leading our staff team in developing our overall communications, recruitment and organising strategy which has enabled us to:+ Recruit and organise 15000+ private and social tenants into dynamic campaign driven branches across the country and;+ Train 1000+ tenant leaders and develop a core team of 200 volunteer organisers;+ Double the membership of Living Rent within 1 year and sufficiently to maintain an initially temporary staff capacity;- Developing and delivering training programmes for staff and activists;- Organising and recruitment in unstaffed areas;- Supporting staff and leaders to develop sophisticated and successful mass-participation campaign plans;- Developing a cutting edge digital toolset combining consumer software (Wordpress, G Suite, Slack, Asana, Zapier) with specialist tools (Nationbuilder, Fundraise.tech, Action Network) and training staff and leaders in their use;- Leading on branding and messaging;- Facilitating staff and leadership meetings and mass/public organising/campaign events;- Fundraising £100,000 pa and maintaining external relationships with funders, media, politicians and allies;- Line management, HR, financial accounting and legal compliance.

As a Local Organiser working with Bucks County Branch I was responsible for:- Mapping the existing membership and leadership (shop stewards) amongst school support staff and conducting a listening campaign to identify key issues of concern;- Developing an organising campaign plan which resulted in:+ 200 new union members;+ 20 new shop stewards holding a launch event and gaining press coverage;+ 300 low paid women workers providing personal testimony to back up our pay claim;+ Winning a pay rise (the expectation was of a continued pay freeze);

Prior to my role in Bucks, I was employed by Surrey County UNISON to organise in private contractors and was responsible for:- Mapping and conducting a listening campaign amongst private contractor employees;- Recruiting new members and shop stewards amongst school support staff, cleaners, care workers and waste management workers;- Design and delivery of presentation to school support regarding the proposed changes to the Local Government Pension Scheme and recruitment of picket captains during the 2011 dispute;- Supporting worker leaders to win health and safety improvements on waste management sites and a healthier relationship with management.
