At 24 years old, I became the youngest person to ever run a Cardinal Health Warehouse—an exciting and somewhat terrifying prospect, since I had no idea what I was doing and had team members who had been at the plant for 20+ years. To win people over, I met with each employee individually and took their opinions to heart. This experience taught me the invaluable lesson that I can’t know everything and that listening to my team is the essential first step towards being a good leader. 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰After 4 years with Cardinal, I joined Medline Industries as a Product Manager in the Dyancor Division. In that role, I delivered record revenue growth by redeveloping two products and increased aggregate sales 25% by winning major contracts with Group Purchasing Organizations. I was then progressively promoted within the Operating Room Division from Senior Product Manager to VP of Marketing to lead a departmental turnaround. During my 7-year tenure, the Division’s value doubled, I helped develop 15 new products, and I launched a new product line that converted 91% of the global market in Europe, Australia, and Japan. In 2020, I took on my latest challenge, which has been transforming the underperforming Urological Division into a company powerhouse as the General Manager/Director of Marketing. Since 2020, the Urological Division has seen its market share grow 20% and has maintained a customer satisfaction score above 92% despite COVID-related disruptions.𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐞The lessons I learned at 24 have been foundational to my success turning around multiple struggling divisions. I believe that existing team members often have the answers needed to make productive change, so I gather input and then give people the opportunity to make decisions and the autonomy to follow through and do the jobs they were hired for. I’m driven by the need to seek new challenges and am comfortable with ambiguity, traits that empower me to swiftly make decisions even if I have incomplete information.
